Mt. Prospect man fears for his cats
This is an open letter to the Humane Society and pet lovers. When I watch your and the ASPCA television ads I get very sad. I’ve taken care of homeless and needy cats for over 15 years.
My wife passed away in June 2010 and my only comfort and love was from my cats. I became hospitalized with a leg infection Nov. 2010. A good neighbor took care of my cats.
After my hospitalization, I required home therapy. Apparently my home care nurses didn’t like me having cats. One reported me for having 18 cats. She only came into my living room and never saw cats, but she reported that tale to her boss. Her boss then reported me for excessive cats and unhealthy living conditions.
My town, Mt. Prospect, only allows three pets per household. The rest must go even if they are healthy. It doesn’t matter. The township municipal codes must be followed.
Pet rescue places wanted to take some of inside healthy cats and put them outside where they could have fights with other outside cats and pick up disease.
I’ve been going to court since March 2010 to try to stop this but I can’t. The codes are carved in stone. My next court date in Mt. Prospect is May 26, 2011. They are going to tell me that I can’t find homes for my cats. The sheriff will take and kill them.
They haven’t done anything wrong. I have. I was nice to strays and gave them love, food, and care. My cats need help!
