Second teen pleads guilty in damage spree
The second of two Lake County teens accused of a BB gun shooting spree was placed on two years’ probation Monday after pleading guilty to criminal damage to property.
Ramses Lopez-Herrera, 19, of the 200 block of Glenwood Drive in Round Lake Beach, was also fined $250 and ordered to complete 150 hours of community service.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Ari Fisz said Lopez-Herrera and Angel Camacho, also 19, damaged three houses and two cars Oct. 5 as they drove through the Round Lake and Ingleside areas firing a BB rifle at random targets.
One of the victims was able to provide police with a description of the car the two were in, and Lake County sheriff’s police and Round Lake Beach police eventually located the vehicle.
A BB rifle and ammunition were found in the trunk, and both Lopez-Herrera and Camacho admitted what they had been doing, Fisz said.
Camacho, of the 2300 block of North Iroquois Lane in Round Lake Heights, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property in February and was given a similar sentence.
