Incumbents McDermott, Lynch, Hundley victorious in Addison trustee race
Addison voters re-elected three people to the village board on Tuesday.
Incumbents Joseph McDermott, William Lynch and Tom Hundley all won new terms on the board, according to unofficial vote totals. Hundley received the most votes with 1,354, or about 29 percent of the total. Lynch got 1,260 votes (27 percent) and McDermott got 1,238 votes (27 percent).
McDermott, Lynch and Hundley ran together under the Addison United for Action banner.
Kathleen Willis, a librarian at Elmhurst College and a current member of the Addison District 4 school board, was the fourth candidate in the race. She received 850 votes, or about 18 percent of the total.
During the campaign, Hundley, a 22-year resident who’s been a village trustee since 1999, stressed the need for continued development of the Lake Street corridor and creation of a “Town Center.”
McDermott, a 43-year resident who was first elected to the village board in 2003, cited the need to keep the village’s bond rating high by maintaining a balanced budget, even in an uncertain economy.
Lynch, a 42-year resident and a village trustee since 2002, called for maximizing available revenues and aggressively marketing the village’s retail areas.
