Vikings' Rogers next on Bears' coaches list
Minnesota quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers is scheduled at Halas Hall on Thursday to interview for the Bears' offensive coordinator job, which has been vacant for more than three weeks.
The Bears received permission from the Vikings on Tuesday to speak with Rogers, who is still under contract.
Rogers is a 35-year coaching veteran, including 28 years at the college level. He has been with the Vikings for the past four seasons after coaching quarterbacks at Virginia Tech for the previous four years.
Rogers also was Bob Davies' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame from 1999-2001. He worked with quarterback Jarious Jackson, who established the single-season, passing-yardage record in 1999 in his final season at Notre Dame.
From 1991-98, Rogers helped Syracuse to six bowl appearances as a quarterbacks coach, assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator.
His prize pupil was Donovan McNabb, who came in as a quarterback with raw tools but left with three straight Big East Conference Offensive Player of the Year awards and was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999.
