Forum on flood, pollution prevention

Flint Creek Watershed Partnership is sponsoring workshops for homeowners to learn about landscaping practices that will help reduce flooding and protect lakes and streams from pollution from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at The Onion Pub & Brewery in Lake Barrington or at the same time on Tuesday, May 3, at Barrington Hills Village Hall. Whether people live on a lake or stream or miles away, the way they maintain their property affects water quality in the areas downhill from them. Since the Barrington and Lake Zurich areas depend on wells for drinking water, home landscaping also affects groundwater supplies. The workshop is free, but homeowners are asked to RSVP to coordinator Patsy Mortimer at pmortimer@earthlink.net. For information, visit flintcreekwatershed.org.
