Library Calls Out: Let Your Voice Be Heard, April 13

The Mount Prospect Public Library is joining libraries across the state for “Snapshot: One Day in the Life of Illinois Libraries” on Wednesday, April 13 to show how important academic, public, school, and special libraries and library systems are to the citizens of Illinois.

How many books are checked out? How many people receive help finding a job? Rely on the Library's Internet access? Get help with their homework?

During Snapshot Day, the library will compile statistics, customer comments, photographs, and other data chronicling a typical library day to show how it provides invaluable services to Mount Prospect residents. The information will be combined with data from libraries across the state to show the far reaching impact of libraries.

“We are looking forward to a fun, busy day that will help us show how much our residents use their library,” said Marilyn Genther, executive director. “Busy days are the norm at the library. In 2010, the library welcomed 571,000 visitors, averaging more than 1,600 per day, up 10 percent from 2009.”

MPPL encourages residents to stop by the library on Wednesday, April 13 to share their thoughts on the impact this community resource has made, particularly during these difficult economic times.
