Outlook: Exorcising the memory of last year's early playoff exit as a No. 4 seed, Wheaton Academy beat Clark 67-49 in its regional opener. Luke Johnson, the Warriors' 6-foot-9 center, scored 24 points with 11 rebounds and athletic guard Wes Koral scored 12. The ability of Koral, Drew Sandberg, Jeremy Lenich, Lars Olson and freshman Dominic Adduci to handle Lawndale's variety of pressure defenses, and the Warriors' ability to make free throws, will help tell the tale against the 2008 2A champs. Coach Lewis Thorpe's Phoenix, which escaped Glenbard South 40-33, will go 13 deep, keeping defense fresh and offense varied.
