Runners, walkers put your best foot forward

The 11th annual Run thru the Hills will be on Sunday, April 11. It features a 10K run, 5K run/walk or Molehill Races for kids.

This popular and challenging course will give participants the taste of the rolling terrain that surrounds Woods Creek Lake in the mature section of town. Bring the whole family as there are walk, run, and strolling distances for all ages.

Register online at lith.org. The deadline for online registration will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7.

Or register from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Running Depot, 30 N. Williams St. in Crystal Lake. Race-day registration will be 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Sunday, April 11, at the race-day headquarters at Lake in the Hills Movie Theater, 311 Randall Road.

The 10K run and 5K race/walk start at 8 a.m. The Molehill Races for kids start at 9:15 a.m. There will be a pre-race stretch hosted by K-Star Fitness at 7:40 a.m.

Pre-race and post-race injury screenings will be provided by AthletiCO.

Sign up for softball: The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department is looking for softball enthusiasts, 18 years and older, to fill the league rosters. All games are officiated under Amateur Softball Association rules and played using a 14-inch mushball. The number of games played is based upon the number of teams registered.

Registration is $375 per team; eight minimum; 20 maximum per team. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, there is a mandatory captain's meeting at the village hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

The first game will be played Sunday, April 18. For information, call the Parks & Recreation Department at (847) 960-7460. Registration is available online at lith.org, by mail-in, drop-box, or over the counter.
