Scouting York boys basketball

York

Coach: Dominic Cannon.

Last year: 18-9, 8-4, third in West Suburban Silver; lost 41-38 to Lincoln Park in Class 4A Whitney Young regional semifinals.

Top players: Will Sullivan, sr., G; Cody Kliethermes, sr., G; Joe Martino, sr., G; Rob Crowe, sr., F; John Worley, sr., F; Dave Cohn, so., G; Mike Despinich, jr., F; Trevor Jordan, jr., F; Jake Rzeszutko, jr., G.

Scouting report: Sullivan, the program's second leading career scorer, enters the season on pace to become the Dukes' all-time scoring leader. He'll have a new coach in Cannon, a former head coach at Prospect and a York assistant the last two years under Al Biancalana, who stepped down to become an assistant at UIC. Sullivan, who averaged 21.3 points as a junior, is the only returning starter. Little experience returns elsewhere, although Kliethermes will provide a spark from 3-point range. Crowe and Worley will anchor the post while the Dukes will lean on a sophomore in Cohn at point guard. Look for Despinich to also take some of the scoring pressure off Sullivan. "Will can't do everything," Cannon said. "We'll need others to step up."
