‘Commuter tax’ another weight on poor

Once again, we see more ways in which our elected officials are trying to take more money from the people with the so-called “commuter tax” idea being discussed, taxing those who work in Chicago, but do not reside there. Because taxes aren’t high enough in the city, county and state governments, correct?

I don’t have to tell you that Democrats run everything in Chicago government — the same Democrats who say they are champions for the poor. Poorer individuals live in areas where there are no jobs to begin with (South suburbs), so they are forced to commute into Chicago for work. So the Democratic aldermen are going to take more of their money just because they live in disadvantaged areas where there are no jobs? Is it really fair to take more money from the people who clean the bathrooms at O’Hare and Midway, the people who work in kitchens downtown or work a second job in the city just to make ends meet?

The aldermen of Chicago have been slowly ripping off the people in their own city for years, but that’s not good enough anymore. Now they want to take from people who don’t even live there. What’s next? Where do we draw the line and say “enough!”
