No excuse for delays to reopen preserves
The DuPage County Forest Preserve has closed Mallard Lake Forest Preserve for the past year in order to make improvements and allegedly to allow the use of heavy equipment. There has not been heavy equipment usage in that preserve for months, yet the preserve remains closed.
The excuse now is a delay in plantings. Why can't walkers, joggers, and bikers be allowed access to the land for which we in DuPage County have all paid dearly? Why can't the preserve officials close those portions where growth is tender while allowing path traffic? It really is a disgrace and a violation of public land usage.
