Five arrested in Cary drug sweep

Three separate investigations targeting suspected narcotics activity in Cary came to a head Friday with the arrests of five village residents on felony drug charges.

The charges, spanning from a Class X felony against an accused LSD dealer to allegations of heroin possession and marijuana delivery, are the result of a joint effort from McHenry County Sheriff's Office and Cary police.

"Cary had some ongoing issues and asked if we could do anything to help," said Sgt. John Koziol, who heads the sheriff's narcotics unit. "We were able to develop some information, and we worked really closely with them on these cases."

Among those arrested was Patrick J. O'Donnell, 19, of the 600 block of Cary Woods, on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (LSD), and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He remained in custody at the county jail Monday, unable to post $10,000 cash bond pending a Friday court date.
