One person injured in Cary crash

A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car Friday morning in Cary.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded to the accident about 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Georgetown Drive and West Main Street. Police said an initial investigation suggests the 56-year-old man from Cary was crossing Georgetown Drive when he was hit by a vehicle turning from West Main Street.

The man, whom police are not identifying at this time, was taken by Flight For Life helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 57-year-old Shirlee McMahon of Cary, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.

Cary police and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Accident Investigation Team continue to investigate the accident.
