Elginbull; Marcus J. Ahamed, 25, of the 100 block of Kimball Street, Elgin, was arrested after a short foot chase early Monday morning, police said. Acting on a 6:30 a.m. report of two people in the 200 block of Ann Street - one of them with a gun - officers caught up with the pair on Franklin Street and recovered a silver gun on the east side of Center Street, north of Franklin Street, reports said. Ahamed was charged with possession of a firearm by a gang member, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with a prior conviction, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a gang member with a prior conviction and possession of a firearm without a firearm owner's identification card, the report said. His bail was set at $80,000 and his next court date is Oct. 1 at the Kane County Judicial Center. Authorities say the incident was gang related.Carpentersvillebull; Darrius M. Armstrong, 17, of the 3000 block of Wakefield Drive, Carpentersville, was arrested for firing a gun in the air Sunday night and for having a small amount of marijuana, police said. Armstrong was charged with felony possession of a firearm, felony possession of a firearm without a firearm owner's identification card and misdemeanor marijuana possession, a report said.
