McHenry County deputy injured in minor crash
A McHenry County sheriff’s deputy was injured Thursday morning when an Aurora man rear-ended his squad car in Crystal Lake, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy was stopped at a red light in the northbound lane of Route 31 at Crystal Lake Avenue when his vehicle was struck from behind, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy was taken to Centegra Medical Center, where he was treated and released after the 9 a.m. crash.
Colby Schmitt of Aurora was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
