Lop off unneeded government layers

I find it amusing when Fence Post contributors jump on conservatives who want to cut spending and waste. The first things they cry about are eliminating social programs and police and fireman coverage.

That’s what the tax-and-spend Democrats have conditioned them to think. To quote a line from the movie “Blazing Saddles”; “Gentlemen, we have to save our phony baloney jobs, harrumph, harrumph.”

Instead, let’s get rid of unneeded layers of government. We can also save money by not paying $100 for a hammer or $500 for a toilet seat. Make government accountable for their spending. There are other ways to save money than just cutting social programs; don’t let the bureaucrats fool you.
