Wood Dale man arrested on heroin charge
A Wood Dale man was arrested Sunday after state police found him asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 88 with bags of heroin on the seat next to him.
Arlie E. Hensley III, 51, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and driving while his license was revoked, according to court records.
He appeared in Kane County bond court Monday afternoon.
State police reported responding to a call of a disabled motorist on westbound I-88 in Kane County. The officer reported finding Hensley asleep behind the wheel, with his foot on the brake.
The officer confiscated a medicine container containing cannabis and 10 bags of heroin powder. They also confiscated a metal tweezer and rolling papers.
According to the synopsis presented in court, Hensley told police he had ingested three bags of the heroin in the two hours before police arriving.
Hensley, of the 200 block of North State Street, was in the Kane County jail Tuesday on $35,000 bail.
