Make that Decatur, not Douglas

Priscilla Weese, in her Fence Post of March 6, credits Stephen Douglas with defeating the Barbary pirates. Mr. Douglas was involved in many activities, including United States Senator from Illinois and a presidential candidate in 1860.

However, naval commander will not be found on his resume. The naval commander who fought the pirates was Stephen Decatur.
