Free piano recital Monday in Schaumburg
Six student soloists from all over the world will give piano recitals at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, in Roosevelt University’s Alumni Hall, 1400 Roosevelt Blvd., Schaumburg. The students are from the school’s Music Conservatory, and the concert is free to the public. The students, some of whom have won competitions internationally, include Alice Chenyang Xu, who began her studies at age 6 in Sichuan, China; Younjin An, a native of South Korea, who began her musical studies at age 11; Jana Pavlovska, a native of Macedonia, who began her music education at age 6; Yuan Zhuang, who was born in Shenyang, China, and began studying music at age 5; Chanmi Ryu, who was born in South Korea and began playing piano at age 4; and Junjie Xi. who has performed recitals in China, Russia, the United States and Europe. “These are young people who have won competitions locally, nationally and internationally, and we are excited about showcasing their work,” said Winston Choi, head of piano at the university.
