Five-car crash in Wheaton, but no injuries
A five-vehicle chain-reaction crash shut down a portion of Butterfield Road in Wheaton for about an hour Monday but resulted in no serious injuries, officials said.
Deputy Chief Tom Meloni said two unidentified people were taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville for minor injuries but were expected to be OK.
Meloni said the accident happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Butterfield Road just east of Naperville Road.
Meloni said a westbound vehicle slammed into the rear of another car and set off a chain reaction that ended with four cars receiving damage. A fifth vehicle then slammed into that accident, Meloni said.
No citations were issued on the scene but Meloni said that police will continue to investigate.
Officials closed Butterfield Road from Naperville Road to East Loop Road, but traffic was back to normal after about one hour.
