2 teens hospitalized after Naperville crash
Two teenagers are in the hospital after a DUI crash Thursday night near Naper Boulevard and Ogden Avenue in Naperville, authorities said.
According to a news release from Naperville police, at 5:35 p.m. a 16-year-old Naperville boy driving 1994 Chevrolet Blazer west on Ogden Avenue attempted to turn left into the Mobil gas station driveway. The SUV collided with an eastbound 2004 Dodge Intrepid driven by a 17-year-old boy from Lisle.
The driver of the Chevrolet and two passengers, a 15-year-old boy from Lisle and another 16-year-old boy from Naperville, were taken to Edward Hospital by ambulance.
The 15-year-old Lisle boy was later air-lifted to Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago in critical condition.
The 16-year-old passenger remains at Edward Hospital, but his injuries are not described as life-threatening.
The driver of the Chevrolet was treated and released from the hospital and then charged with driving under the influence of drugs, failure to yield, operating an unsafe motor vehicle, and several graduated driver's license violations, according to police. The boy was released to the custody of his parents.
The driver of the Dodge and his passenger, another 17-year-old from Lisle, were treated and released at the scene of the crash.
The roadway was reopened to normal traffic at 8:49 p.m., police said, and the crash remains under investigation.
