When we get new board members, new supervisors or employees there are no written guidlines, as the village policy manual has been neglected and is out of touch with current policies and procedures. I will work with all board memebers to make sure that we are focused on the future and not repeat the past. I have found that listening to everyone involved in a project is the best way to make a educated decision.Key Issue 2 We need to look at our downtown and come up with a realistic plan to renew lighting, sidewalks, and parking. We have an aging downtown on a state highway that could have great potential. It's time to start thinking and planning for tomorrow. If the downtown is atractive it will draw in new businesses therefore making these improvments would be an investment that will pay for its self in time with new sales tax revenue.Key Issue 3 I would like to see the new Anderson Road bridge built. Careful planning is important, I don't want to see a development started that remains incomplete, for example Blackberry Creek subdivision.Questions Answers On what should the village be spending property tax and sales tax money?I would like to see the village spend money on repairing streets, updating village infrastructure, and planning for ash tree removal and replacement. I feel we need to also do disaster planning so that personel and equipment are prepared if and when an event should occur. The economic meltdown brought plans for big residential and retail growth to a halt. Should Elburn use this time to re-evaluate and adjust its plans for the future and, if so, how? This is a great time to re-evaluate and be very cautious of any new development, we should assure that any new development that is started is completed. It's also important to remember with new development comes more strain on an already aging infrastructure, police services, and public works. What can the village do to ensure it gets either money or infrastructure upfront on a development, rather than having to go after bonds for bankrupt developments like Blackberry Creek? Should the village be more aggressive in this regard, and how?I think that infrastructure is going to have to be addressed on the front end of any new development. I feel we need to make sure that future impact fees are properly assessed and allocated for only capital projects. What do you think of the current plans for the proposed Elburn Station development? Should the village insist retail be built before issuing housing permits?I think that retail development is a must. The retail sales tax will help support not only the additional services that will be needed but will help to stabilize taxes and village fees. When the economy does recover, can Elburn expect to have the growth once projected for the village? Explain.Elburn is a great village to live in. People in this community must be very careful in planning for the future. I beileve once the economy recovers elburn will once again grow and prosper.
