Results from LITH Festival of Trees Food drive are in

Thanks to the generosity of residents and scores of others, this past food Festival of Trees food drive collected nearly 3,000 nonperishable food items for the needy.

As part of the event, more than 30 trees, sponsored by various local businesses and organizations, were set up at village hall and people voted for their favorite with food.

The winning tree was the one bought by the Lake in the Hills People for Parks Foundation that was also decorated by the Community District 300 Foundation.

District 300 came out in force to support the tree.

It had 846 “votes” from Algonquin Lakes Middle School, Lake in the Hills Elementary School and Jacobs High School.

Other top vote getters were the tree that belonged to All Star Towing that had 764 votes, Lincoln Prairie School's tree with 515 votes and Basset Buddies Rescue's tree with 134 votes.

The food drive started Dec. 3 and all proceeds go to local food pantries.
