Driver’s reputation second to kids’ lives
Methinks thou protest too much Mr. Shacter (Fence Post, Jan. 11). I have a question for you. Would you put your child or grandchild on a bus driven by that drunk woman? I know that I wouldn’t. This bus driver knew full well that her behavior was grounds for dismissal. My husband earned money this way in college as a driver for the Elmhurst high schools. That was in the 1960s, and I’m sure the rules have not changed.
Personally, I would rather this woman’s reputation destroyed than to see her snuff out the lives of young children who never had a chance to realize their own potential.
