Three injured in Wheaton crash

Three people were injured in a head-on crash in Wheaton Thursday morning, according to police.

The driver of a van headed west on Roosevelt Road veered into eastbound lanes and struck a pickup truck head-on about 9:50 a.m. Thursday, said Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Tom Meloni.

The accident happened at the intersection of Roosevelt and President Street.

Three people inside the pickup truck were taken to Central DuPage Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Meloni said.

It is not clear what caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic, but Meloni said he does not think ice played a factor.

The driver of the van was cited for driving with a suspended license and traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
