Principal named at Briar Glen in Wheaton
Mitchell Dubinsky of Deerfield has been hired as the new principal of Community District 89’s Briar Glen Elementary School in Wheaton.
Dubinsky will assume his duties July 1.
Dubinsky will replace interim principals Jackie Strum and Kevin Diehl, who are sharing the administrative duties at Briar Glen this year. Both Strum and Diehl are retired District 89 principals, and they took the interim roles when Briar Glen’s former Principal Emily Tammaru was selected to serve as assistant superintendent for learning.
Dubinsky comes to District 89 from River Trails School District 26, where he has served as the assistant principal at Euclid Elementary School for the past three years. He also serves as the bilingual/English language learning coordinator for that district.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and he has a master’s degree in reading from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
