Student chess championship Jan. 29 in Arlington Heights

The Arlington Heights Chess Championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at Windsor Elementary School in Arlington Heights. Area elementary school students will be competing for trophies and awards.

There will be two sections, both unrated, for competition. The primary section is for kindergarten through second grade; the open section is for third through fifth grade. Seven individual trophies will be awarded for each section. Medals will be given for eighth through 10th place in each section. The top three scorers in each section will determine the team scores.
