Dog nabbed during Woodridge break-in

A Woodridge family came home from work to a shock on Friday. Not only was their home broken into, but their 3-year-old dog was stolen, according to police.

Police said Remy, a 3-year-old male Shih Tzu-poodle mix, and the cage he was in were both taken from a home on the 6700 block of Harvest Avenue in Woodridge during the burglary.

An unknown number of offenders forced their way into the home sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, police said.

Police have contacted animal shelters to keep an eye out for the small black dog with white spots.

An e-reader, several bottles of liquor and tea cups were also taken during the break-in, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Stefanson or the Woodridge Police Department at (630) 719-4740.
