Girl with supernatural powers subject of Prospect play

Prospect High School’s fall production of “The Sparrow” will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20, in the school theater.

“The Sparrow” is a fable about an orphaned teenager, Emily Book, who returns to the town she once called home to finish her final year of high school. An ordinary teenager with extraordinary abilities, Emily must embrace her supernatural powers and confront the truth about her past.

“The Sparrow” had its world premiere in Chicago in 2007.

Junior Jennifer Ruda will play the lead role of Emily Book. Additional cast members are freshmen Adrian Politzer, Bridgette Jasinski, Jonah Tomko-Smith, Kit Fitzgerald, Laura Gonyon, and Nina Gary; sophomores Allie O’Connor, Claudia Lowe, Elli Furukawa, James Farquharson, and Maggie Martorano; juniors Dana Lasswell, Jennifer Schiro, Josh Arshonsky, Lauren Bell, Leanne Gadow, Mary Godby, Meghan Doyle, and Oliver Khairallah; and seniors Chloe Chidester, Franco Longobardi, Jacob Molli, Joseph Heyman, Keagan Anderson, Olivia Churchill, Patrick Pfohl, and Shannon Kobler.

Jeremy Morton is the director; Matt Erbach is the set, sound, and lighting designer; costume and makeup are coordinated by Pat Doyle; and Sheryl Morton is in charge of props. The show is choreographed by Morton, Ruda, Doyle, Madelyn Doyle, Kelly Minuskin, and Sharzad Ayrempout.

The school is at 801 W. Kensington Road in Mount Prospect. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $7 for students at the door, or $5 in advance.
