Dist. 214 honored for ‘creativity and ingenuity’

e.Republic’s Center for Digital Education has given District 214 its 2012 K-12 Digital Education Achievement Award for leveraging the integration of online and complex information systems.

The award recognizes contributions at the application, intranet and infrastructure levels, all to the benefit of online education for students, teachers and the community.

Keith Bockwoldt, District 214 director of technical systems and support, said District 214’s Technology Services developed web-based systems to provide transparency, including applications that make online access easy for parents to pay for and enroll their children in programs.

The applications support the district’s goals: closing the achievement gap in each school among at-risk students, increasing the student success rate per course by at least 5 percentile points each year, and increasing the number of students enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement course each year until at least half have earned a score of three or higher on an AP Exam.

“The need for schools, universities and other educational institutions to have quality websites and applications is constantly increasing as online technologies become a bigger part of the educational process,” said Calithea Robinett, executive vice president of e.Republic.
