Zombies are on the prowl amid 28 student-based acts Feb. 11, 12

The Rocky Horror Saxon Show is coming to Schaumburg High School at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 and 12. The 2011 edition of the SHS Variety Show will be a true variety show that represents the diverse student body at SHS, and not just the Music Department.

There will be 28 acts including vocal selections, dance, comedy, magic and instrumental music tied together into a fast-paced, two-hour show with Zombie humor and the SHS Choraliers performing “The Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

A few highlights:

Ÿ Jon Knitter and Ryan Wenzel recreate the famous Abbott and Costello routine, “Who's On First.”

Ÿ Nathan Spees performs “Band Candy”, a humorous song detailing the joys of high school fund-raising.

Ÿ Violinist Claire Light will present “Ashokan Farewell”, a Native-American themed modern piece.

Ÿ Renee Zhu and Joey Cha will duet and play guitar on “Need You Now.”

Ÿ The SHS Concert Choir will sing Bon Jovi's ‘80s anthem “Living on a Prayer.”

Ÿ Liz Gonzalez, Sonia Ramirez, Amerika Torres, Adriana Marquez and Michelle Santos offer their dance “Las Malas!”

Ÿ The SHS Drumline and “Stomp!” ensembles will fill the stage with high energy percussion numbers.

Reserved seats are $5 for students and $6 general admission. Buy tickets from the Music Department anytime, or today (Friday) in the student cafeteria. For more information call (847) 755-4801, e-mail tmcglynn@d211.org or visit Facebook at “SHS Variety Show.”
