Time to repent the sins of our nation

Just a couple comments to the one who wrote Sept. 9 about the day the Pentagon was attacked, the twin towers and Flight 93 went down, taking with them the lives of thousands and the false security America was living under.

First of all, remember that Bill Clinton had the opportunity to capture Osama Ben Laden on his watch and he didn't do it (Osama had tried to blow up the towers in 1993). Secondly, the dismantling of our defense and intelligence occured while Clinton was Commander-in-Chief.

President Bush's response was not nation-building. I am disgusted to see it termed that. It was retaliation. It was a statement that it will cost those who deem to attack the United States. It was an effort to defend our nation from our sworn enemies, enemies who have no intention of negotiating for peace but are commited to "killing the infidel." Sadam was funneling tons of money to terrorists around the world. One of his former generals has stated that the weapons of mass destruction were gotten out of the country before we got there to find them. My guess is that they are in underground bunkers in Syria.

Please, as we take time to honor those who gave their lives on 9/11 and since then in the defense of our country, let's focus on them and not on politics or on the foolish or well-intentioned errors that may have been made. Second Chronicles 7:14 in the Bible says, "If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Let's repent of the sins of our nation, seeking God's forgiveness and healing before we lose this "land of the free and home of the brave." Thank you to all who serve and protect.
