Wheaton man indicted in college theft
A DuPage County grand jury has indicted a Wheaton man accused of stealing up to $10,000 from Elmhurst College, according to court records made public Wednesday.
The complaint charges 61-year-old John Valenta of the 1700 block of Lucky Debonair Court with one count of felony theft. He is accused of stealing $500 to $10,000 from the college between June 2009 and January 2011.
A college spokeswoman said Valenta was an independent contractor who no longer works college.
He is scheduled to appear in court April 4 before Judge George Bakalis. Elmhurst police did not return a request for additional details.
