Heart of Marine provides help to veterans

The Elk Grove-based Heart Of A Marine Foundation is having a busy summer. Thanks to the generosity and support of many, The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is making an impact for military and veterans in all branches of the United States Armed Forces.

On June 8, Roy Frank, Gold Star dad and co-founder of The Heart Of A Marine Foundation, presented a donation of new clothing to the veterans homeless shelter at James Lovell FHCC/North Chicago VA. Ms. Adriane accepted the donation for the Clothes Room, a facility where homeless veterans may “shop” without cost.

Thanks to the continued support of Northrop-Grumman, Rolling Meadows, and its VERITAS members. VERITAS are Veterans, Employees, Reservists, Inspired To Act and Support. On July 16, this internal organization within Northrop-Grumman presented The Heart Of A Marine Foundation with a $1,000 check. These funds will go to provide leather gloves to disabled veterans in wheelchairs, for comfort in mobility.

The Ram Restaurant in Schaumburg once again hosted a fundraiser for The Heart Of A Marine Foundation. On July 19, the Ram donated 10 percent of all sales during a specific time period. They also brewed a beer in honor of the event, Black H’ops Beer. One hundred percent of all cash sales of Black H’ops was donated to The Heart Of A Marine Foundation. For their continuing support of The Heart Of A Marine Foundation, and the brewing of wonderful relations, the Ram management and staff was presented with a token of appreciation. Monies raised at the Ram event will go to “send a service member” to The Heart Of A Marine Foundation Golf Outing in August.

The Foundation routinely gifts attendance at their events to active duty service personnel, and these funds will go to give our military a great day “on leave” and much deserved “R & R.”

Aug. 13-20 is Navy Week in Chicago. The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is honored to be a part of the festivities by welcoming Vice Admiral Philip Hart-Cullom to Chicago. The Heart Of A Marine Foundation will be working closely with a Deerfield-based corporation to welcome the vice admiral, as he is scheduled to speak of Naval influence in commerce and industry.

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation Is a registered 501(c)3 organization, serving all branches of the United States Armed Forces, veterans and their families. The Foundation is established in memory, honor, and spirit of Marine Lance Corporal Phillip Frank, killed in action, April 2004. For information, visit www.heartofamarine.org or call (847) 621.7324.
