Families bond as holidays approach

Children's spirits and a parachute were soaring on Friday evening.

Schaumburg area families visited Family Fun Night at Meineke Recreation Center for a free fall evening celebrating fun.

“It's the perfect time before the holidays for families to enjoy a night out of the house together,” said Gwen Strombeck, manager of Meineke Recreation Center.

Families played basketball, board games and twister while volunteers assisted children with craft projects. The kid favorite activity of the night was the parachute.

A local DJ played the latest hits as kids danced and showed off their hula hoop skills in the gym.

“It's a great feeling seeing the kids running around enjoying themselves,” said Schaumburg resident and mother Caroline Pablo.
