Schaumburg company sued in trademark infringement case
FARGO, N.D. -- A North Dakota business that handles electronic transactions says an Illinois company should drop the name of one of its products.
Fargo-based Intercept Corporation has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in federal court against Accertify Inc., and its fraud prevention service called Interceptas.
Officials with the Fargo company say they have been using the Intercept name since 1993, and believe the Interceptas name could be confusing and deceptive. The lawsuit says Accertify acquired a trademark registration for Interceptas in July.
Officials from Accertify in Schaumburg say the lawsuit has no merit because the two companies do not compete in the same industries and there's no confusion on the part of the buyers.
