Perryman Ks 15 more, Elgin wins 20th
Elgin senior Hannah Perryman kept the roll going Wednesday, striking out 15, throwing a 3-hitter and hitting her fifth home run of the season as the Maroons won their 20th game of the season, beating Geneva 4-1 in Upstate Eight River action on Senior Day at Elgin High.
Perryman (18-7), who set the single-season Elgin strikeout record on Tuesday, now has 345 Ks this season and 792 for her career. The Elgin career record is 836 held by Liz Waller.
Jennah Perryman also had a hot bat in Wednesday’s win, going 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Bri Wright also added 2 hits for the Maroons (20-10, 13-6), who face Lemont Saturday morning at the Stone City Jamboree in preparation for next Wednesday’s Class 4A regional opener against Schaumburg.
Neuqua Valley 4, Bartlett 3: A nine-inning loss, Bartlett’s third straight, put the Hawks’ backs against the wall in the Upstate Eight Valley. If Waubonsie Valley beats South Elgin today in Aurora, the Warriors will have snatched the conference title away from Bartlett, which had a 3-game lead entering the week. Should South Elgin beat Waubonsie, as it did earlier in the season, Bartlett (25-6, 15-3) will need to win at Lake Park Friday to salvage the league title. Amanda Montbriand (8-1) was the tough-luck loser for the Hawks Wednesday. She struck out 5 and allowed 10 hits in pitching a complete game.
Batavia 11, Streamwood 0: Alexis Ciengi had Streamwood’s only hit in this Upstate Eight River loss. Kaitlyn Hedger took the loss for the Sabres (8-21, 3-14).
Dundee-Crown 9, Woodstock North 1: Melany Love and Jess Lewandowski (RBI) were each 2-for-4 as the Chargers (8-23) snapped an 11-game losing streak with this Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Love (5-8) tossed a 4-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
Christian Liberty 6, Westminster Christian 3: The Warriors saw their season come to an end with this loss at the Class 1A Luther North regional. Rachel Rich was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and losing pitcher Rachel Fugiel drive in a run for Westminster (8-9).
