U-46 school news for week of May 28

On Monday, May 28, all schools and offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Abbott Middle School

On Wednesday, the Student Council will sponsor a trip to Great America.

On Thursday, the End of the Year Dance will be held from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the school.

Tefft Middle School

On Wednesday, the eighth-grade cruise will occur in Chicago from Navy Pier. They will enjoy a two hour cruise, including lunch and a DJ.

Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m., the spring student-led conferences will occur, along with the Academic Showcase and a Community Resource Fair. Parents will receive their child's NWEA Measure of Academic progress (MAP) scores.

Representatives from Bartlett and Streamwood High will be present to distribute the registration packets for the 2012-13 school year.

Seventh-grade parents will receive the Tefft registration materials for their child's eighth-grade year.

Century Oaks Elementary

On Thursday, students in grades 4-6 will perform their Spring Sing at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym.

Clinton Elementary

On Wednesday, Mrs. Rosiejka's 3rd grade class play will be performed at South Elgin High School at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

At 7 p.m., the 6th grade recognition ceremony will also be held in the South Elgin

High School auditorium.

Hawk Hollow Elementary

On Tuesday, the annual Field Day will take place at the school during school hours.

On Wednesday, the 6th grade luncheon will be held at the school.

Laurel Hill Elementary

On Thursday, the 6th grade recognition assembly and brunch will be held from 8-10 a.m. in the gym and multi-purpose room for those students and their parents.

On Friday, the Awards Assembly for students in grades 3-5 will take place at 8:15 a.m. in the multi-purpose room.

Later on Friday, the Awards Assembly for students in grades 1-2 will take place at 1 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.

Liberty Elementary

On Wednesday, 5th grade students will celebrate the completion of their DARE program with a graduation ceremony at 9 a.m.

On Thursday, 6th grade students will commemorate their years at Liberty with a Recognition Night. The students will join their parents for this special evening before they move on to middle school.

Lincoln Elementary

On Tuesday, all 6th grade students will travel to Shedd Aquarium to learn about sea life and enjoy all the new exhibits.

Lowrie Elementary

On Tuesday, students will celebrate good sportsmanship by participating in Olympic Day.

On Wednesday as part of a PBIS school-wide reward, the students will have an assembly called the NED show- Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. The presenters use yo-yo tricks to amuse the students and send out their positive message.

Prairieview Elementary

On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in 4th grade will present their “Wax Museum” during school hours in their classrooms. They each researched a person of their choice, created a poster, made a mini replica, and will present a speech at this annual event. They also dress up in an outfit representing that person. Families may attend on the 30th at 8:45 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, the annual Field Day will be held during school hours.

Washington Elementary

On Thursday, all Washington families are invited to participate in an End of the Year celebration from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the school. There will be food, games and prizes, a cake walk, and a DJ.
