Mount Prospect man stabbed in abdomen
Mount Prospect police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday night during an altercation on the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive.
A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight that is believed to be gang-related, according to police.
Police responded to the area for reports of possible shots fired at 10:51 p.m. as well as 911 callers reporting several subjects yelling and a large group running from the area, according to authorities.
Officers found a 21-year-old Mount Prospect resident who was suffering from a stab wound near his abdomen. Paramedics drove the victim to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police.
Officers search the area for evidence of shots being fired, but found nothing, said Mount Prospect Cmdr. Mike Eterno.
Police said the stabbing was not a random act, and there is no information that residents in the immediate area should have ongoing concern.
As of late Thursday afternoon, police said no suspects were in custody and a description of a stabber was not available.
