Sundling eighth grader's essay wins contest for her 'Favorite Teacher'

Beth Blazejak, a reading and writing teacher at Walter R. Sundling Junior High, was recently named the winner of the Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher contest.

Beth won the contest based on an essay written by one of her students, eighth grader Jessica Dlugosz. Jessica wrote about Beth's many inspirational qualities, and submitted her essay to Barnes & Noble—Deer Park in hopes that the store would recognize Beth as an exceptional teacher.

“With such a marvelous teacher, it seems almost unrealistic to find any faults in her,” wrote Jessica in her essay. “Reading has become an enjoyable time during the day thanks to the works of my teacher. She is a splendid educator who cares for us as much as she cares for her own children.”

“With such kind words, Ms. Blazejak stood out as the clear winner of our contest,” said Jen Gleason, Barnes & Noble—Deer Park's assistant store manager, in a letter to Sundling Principal Jason Dietz announcing that Barnes & Noble—Deer Park would honor both Beth and Jessica at an in-store award ceremony on Thursday, April 19.
