Palatine teen dies a week after being struck by vehicle
A 19-year-old Palatine man who was struck by a vehicle in South Barrington on April 28 died last night, officials confirmed. Cole Deacon was struck by a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Schaumburg man as he was standing on Barrington Road near Willow Creek Community Church, according to police. Kane County group pushing for appeal of Citizens United amendment
A Kane County affiliate of the national organization Move to Amend, is pushing for a constitutional amendment that would invalidate the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling. The ruling struck down spending limits on corporations contributing to political campaigns. Steve Bruesewitz, member of the Move to Amend Kane County group, believes the Citizens United decision is a severe blow to democracy. The U.S. Constitution hasn’t seen an amendment ratified since 1992. Full story.
Pedestrian struck crossing Rand Road in Palatine
Police continue to investigate an accident of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian that shut down a portion of Rand Road in Palatine Sunday afternoon for more than three hours. Police said the victim, who was a child or young adult, was struck while attempting to cross Rand Road just south of Dundee Road. Full story.
Cops: Parolee caught with loaded handgun, crack cocaine
A North Chicago man on parole for a murder conviction was found with a loaded handgun and crack cocaine during a traffic stop in Gurnee, according to police. Gordon Johnson, 44, served 20 years of his 40-year sentence. Gordon was a passenger in a vehicle that police pulled over at about 10 p.m. Saturday. A sheriff’s deputy spotted the gun on the floor where Gordon was sitting, according to police. Full story.

It’s about 60 degrees right now with heavy fog, but the fog should burn off by the end of the morning and temperatures should rise to about 70 degrees. More heavy rain is moving into the area for the morning rush, and that is expected to move on by noon, leaving scattered showers in its wake. Traffic
Be prepared for slick conditions and large puddles due to heavy overnight rain. Police and rescue workers are on the scene of an accident at I-290 and the Eisenhower Expressway on-ramp where a car rolled over in the ditch, and a second crash in Deer Park on southbound Route 12 at Long Grove Road. In the interim, people should avoid construction delays in Addison at Mill Road and I-290, where bridge construction is scheduled until late June. Full story.

The Bulls have never rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win a playoff series in franchise history, but that is what they are going to need to do after Sunday’s 89-82 Game 4 loss in Philadelphia. Cubs win in the 11th with walk-off walk
The Cubs tied the game in the bottom on the ninth against the Los Angeles Dodgers and ended it in the 11th, when David DeJesus walked with the bases loaded. The victory gave the Cubs 2 out of 3 against the Dodgers and improved their record to 11-17. “That was interesting, an interesting game,” said Cubs manager Dale Sveum. “It took all 25 guys to do it, let alone the sick guys coming off the couch and doing the job, too.” Full story.
