Palatine teen struck by vehicle in South Barrington dies

A 19-year-old Palatine man died Sunday, more than a week after he was struck by a vehicle in South Barrington, according to authorities.

Cole Deacon suffered severe injuries when he was struck by a vehicle about 1:30 a.m. near Willow Creek Community Church, police said.

Police said Deacon was standing in Barrington Road near Terra Vita Drive, a roadway that leads into a subdivision, when he was hit by a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by a 26-year-old Schaumburg man.

A Cook County medical examiner’s office spokesman confirmed Deacon died Sunday night and said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

South Barrington police reached Sunday afternoon said the crash remained under investigation, but they could not be reached for comment Sunday night.

As of May 30, no citations had been issued in connection to the crash.

Deacon was being treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for a major brain injury as well as numerous fractures suffered in the crash, a memorial website stated.

According to a preliminary investigation, it was unclear what Deacon was doing in the street, police said.
