Hit your favorite haunts this Halloween

Halloween might fall on Sunday this year, but that just means bars and clubs throughout the suburbs are holding big bashes all weekend long. Get your costume together and prepare to party with drink specials, music, costume contests and more.

Here's a sampling of what local bars have on tap for Halloween weekend:

Mad Mark's Pizza & Sports, 871 E. Algonquin Road, Schaumburg, (847) 397-3100: The Mad Mark's Madhouse party from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday features a midnight costume contest with a $1,000 cash prize, plus themed cocktails like the $6 Witch's Brew Martini made with Three Olives Purple Vodka, Blue Curacao and lemon-lime soda. Cover is $5.

John Barleycorn, 1100 American Lane, Schaumburg, (847) 619-5540: The bar hosts parties starting at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 p.m. Sunday. Friday Hey Jimmy performs, a DJ spins from midnight to 3 a.m. and a costume contest awards gift certificates. Saturday is the B96 Rave From the Grave, with a costume contest offering a $1,000 prize. Sunday features a DJ and costume contest, plus drink specials including $18 Bud Light buckets and $6 4 Rebels vodka cocktails. There's a $10 cover Friday and Saturday and no cover Sunday.

The Fuel Room at Austin's Saloon, 481 Peterson Road, Libertyville, (847) 549-1972: The 95 Will Rock Halloween Gala from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday includes a costume contest with a $1,000 cash prize, a midnight seance to contact Elvis and live music from Your Villain My Hero. Drink specials include $3.50 Stella Artois.

Paradis Night Club, 801 E. Butterfield Road, Schaumburg, (312) 880-7768: A party from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday includes appetizers from 7 to 9 p.m., a DJ and a costume contest awarding $500 to first place. Cover is $45.

Jambalaya, at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. Charles, (800) 474-3272: Party at the Monster Mash Bash from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Luv Shack provides live music, and participants can compete for prizes and giveaways. Drink and food specials start at 7 p.m. No cover.

Grotto Italian Steakhouse, 3011 Butterfield Road, Oak Brook, (630) 571-5700: Tickets cost $25 for a party at 8 p.m. Friday. Graze on appetizers including bruschetta and chicken tacos while DJs Jojo and Gizep spin. The best '70s costume, the most original costume and the scariest costume will win prizes.

Medusa's, 209 E. Chicago St., Elgin, (847) 868-2582: Move to tunes from Rockstar, No Ratz, Xcel and Jean Luc on two dance floors at a party from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday. The bash also includes a costume contest.

The Vine Martini & Wine Bar, 101 Center St., Grayslake, (847) 543-0900: The martini bar serves up themed cocktails including the $8.50 Voodoo with Midori, Malibu rum, pineapple juice and Southern Comfort. A costume party starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday features live music by Piano Stu. No cover.

Hyatt Regency Woodfield, 1800 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg, (847) 604-3446: Costumes are required at this bash billed as the World's Largest Halloween Singles Party. It starts at 8 p.m. Saturday and features a $1,000 costume contest, a raffle and music from DJ Darius to show off your best moves on the huge dance floor. Admission is $10.

Buzz, 5831 Northwest Hwy., Crystal Lake, (815) 444-6889: Check out the brand new lounge with a party from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday. A DJ spins, and a costume contest at 10 p.m. offers $500 for first place. No cover.

Timothy O'Toole's, 5572 Grand Ave., Gurnee, (847) 249-0800: Celebrate with pumpkin carving, spooky drinks and karaoke at 8 p.m. Saturday. A costume contest offers $500 in cash prizes.

Pyramid Club, 236 W. Lake St., Addison, (630) 458-0777: Pool is free after 6 p.m. Saturday and well drinks and bottles of beer are $3. The party also features a DJ and a costume contest with cash prizes.

Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St., Crystal Lake, (815) 356-9980: Parties kick off at 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The cover is $5 Friday when Barefoot Fred performs. Cover band Built for Pleasure takes the stage Saturday, and Sunday is karaoke plus a costume contest for a coffin filled with beer and tickets to watch the Bears game from the Miller Lite party deck. All weekend you can sip themed cocktails like the $8 caramel appletini or the $6 Ecto Cooler mixed with Midori, vodka, orange juice, Blue Curacao, lemon-lime soda and tapioca pearls meant to represent eyeballs. There's no cover Saturday and Sunday.

The Tiki Terrace, 1591 Lee St., Des Plaines, (847) 795-8454: A party at 7:30 p.m. Sunday features karaoke and a costume contest.

Mullen's, 3080 Warrenville Road, Lisle, (630) 505-0240: Cover band Memphis4Now performs in full Halloween costumes at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
