Barrington writers group teams with actors

Barrington Cultural Arts Center and TesserAct Theatre are continuing their “Third Fridays...in the Gallery” series with a collaborative evening with the Barrington Writer's Workshop.

Join the Barrington Writers Workshop, led by Tamara Tabel, as they hear their own theatrical offerings read by some of the TFIG regulars.

This performance will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the BCAC Gallery, located at the Ice House Mall, 200 Applebee St., in Barrington. Admission is $5.

Barrington Writers Workshop members are excited to see their original short plays and poetry performed live. Although the BWW partners regularly with the Barrington Area Library to perform its work in the Library Café series, this is the first time it has featured the theatrical writing talents of its members.

Contributors include Tamara Tabel, Debbie Stone and Catherine Quigg, all of Barrington; Baheej Khleif, Sleepy Hollow; Phyllis Shearer, Johnsburg; Tina Stoval, Lake Zurich; and Jim Palmer, Bartlett.

BWW is in its 34th year of helping local writers improve their craft and connect with other writers and art organizations.

“Third Fridays …in the Gallery” is a monthly program sponsored by BCAC and TesserAct Theatre and is an evening to promote community theater and thespian fellowship in the Barrington area. It is open to all area residents in high school and older.

The groups have an ambitious plan for the year that includes open-mikes, readings from local authors and staged performances. Auditions for those who wish to act or read are held on an ongoing basis.
