Naperville man likely headed for more prison time
A Naperville man likely will have to serve additional prison time on convictions for burglary and retail theft before he starts serving a new 2½-year sentence for driving under the influence and hitting two Illinois Department of Transportation vehicles last year on I-290.
Chester A. Zmarzlinski, 33, was on parole last June when he was driving his 2006 Dodge Caravan that veered onto the left shoulder of I-290 just west of Route 83 near Addison. The vehicle struck an IDOT arrow truck, then spun out of control and slammed into an IDOT vacuum truck, authorities said.
Two IDOT workers were injured in the crash.
Zmarzlinski, who was sentenced to three years in prison for burglary and retail theft in Lake County in 2009, was paroled in September 2010. It’s likely he’ll complete his parole in prison before starting the new sentence for DUI in DuPage County, according to state’s attorney’s spokesman Paul Darrah.
Zmarzlinski was sentenced last week by Judge Daniel P. Guerin.
