Bloomin’ Bunco Benefit helps fill food pantry shelves
Bunco is more than just a game, it’s an opportunity to socialize, and come out in support of important causes. Last year the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry hosted its first Bloomin’ Bunco fundraiser. Nearly 180 women enjoyed an evening of fun and friendship while raising money to help hungry families in the community. The event raised thousands of dollars which helped fill the shelves at the pantry with food and personal care items. The need for these items still exists more than ever.
Last year at this time, the food pantry was serving 269 families; six months later that number had risen to 347 hungry families and every month the numbers increase.
In March, the pantry moved to its new facility at 1113 Pyott Road, Lake in the Hills which offers more space and dozens of shelves that will need to be stocked. You can help make a difference in the lives of your neighbors by participating in this year’s second annual Bloomin’ Bunco Benefit.
Begin organizing your own pod of 12 players or plan to come with a couple of friends for this evening of fun and laughter which will include three rounds of Bunco, complimentary desserts, raffles, Bunco prizes and a gentlemen staff to serve you.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Neubert Elementary School in Algonquin. Admission is $25 per player. Preregistration is required and space is limited so visit www.alith-foodpantry.org to reserve your spot today!
If you can’t attend this year’s Bloomin’ Bunco Benefit but would still like to help make a difference in the lives of those in need, consider becoming an event sponsor or donating an item for the raffle table. Contact event coordinator Carol Platt at (847) 658-4105 or carol_platt@hotmail.com for sponsor information or to make a donation.
All proceeds from this event will be used to stock the shelves at the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Food Pantry.
