Sanctity of life issue in Florida shooting
How long does an arrest take involving the loss of a life in America? Forget any Stand Your Ground law. A young man is dead and another man shot him. A cop-wannabe pursues a younger man after being told not to and shoots him to death.
What we do know is those persons paid to protect us botched it royally in this case resulting in a police chief stepping down from his job. No one acted responsibly in this case ... a “neighborhood watchman,” local cops and a young man was where he should not have been. The trespassing youth is dead and a killer is charged with nothing.
Finally, please note the absence of any reference to race in this piece. The big issues in this case have nothing at all to do with race. What we do know, what few facts we do have, without all the racial hype, is what concerns me in this situation. The issue in this case is the sanctity of human life — black or white, young or old. Let’s get past the punditry and use this teachable moment in America more effectively than the broadcast media has chosen to do thus far.
