Fenton advances to final

At the Class 3A St. Viator regional semifinals on Tuesday, Fenton made 16 of 20 fourth-quarter free throws to defeat fellow Metro Suburban Conference foe Ridgewood 47-40.

The third-seeded Bison (11-17) scored the slight upset over No. 2 Ridgewood (13-16). Fenton senior Emeka Umeadi scored 13 points, 9 of them in the fourth quarter. Umeadi was 11 of 16 from the foul line.

Cody Meyer scored 9 points and Vince Esposito had 7 for Fenton, which at 7:30 p.m. Friday will face top-seeded regional host St. Viator (21-6). The Bison will shoot for their first regional title since 1976.

Hyde Park 63, Hinsdale South 54: Despite Brock Benson's 13 points and 11 from Karl Ploger, at the Class 4A Mt. Carmel regional semifinals No. 7 Hyde Park ended the No. 10 seeded Hornets' season. Hinsdale South finished at 14-12.
