Mount Prospect Crime Stoppers organizes bowling event

Mount Prospect Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization involving three essential elements in the fight against crime: the media, the community and law enforcement.

Mount Prospect Crime Stoppers is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of citizens of Mount Prospect. The board is responsible for establishing policy, raising funds through private donations and other fundraising activities and for paying rewards.

This new organization hopes to use funds raised at its second annual bowling event to further expand an anonymous telephone tip line. A bowlathon is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Brunswick Zone, 824 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. At $25 per bowler, or $100 per lane for a team of five, this includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental, pop and pizza.

Jim Uszler, former executive director of the Mount Prospect Chamber, said, “Crime Stoppers is a great organization, and our chamber was proud to be able to help get this program off the ground.

“Anyone who wants to register for the bowling event can find the listing on our Facebook page, Crime Stoppers MP, or you can call Barbara Van Arsdale at (847) 877-1088.”

Crime Stoppers of Mount Prospect is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and any contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Your support will provide rewards to those providing tips on serious crimes in the Mount Prospect community.

Since the inception of the Illinois State Crime Stoppers, more than 70 Crime Stoppers programs in Illinois have been responsible for more than 66,000 cases solved, over 113,000 arrests, property recovery of more than $144 million, and rewards paid of almost $6 million.
