Girl Scouts to plant tree
Girl Scouts from troops in Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills and Wheeling will celebrate the impact of the Girl Scouts over the past 100 years with a free community event, 1-3 p.m. April 22 at Lake Arlington in Arlington Heights. The girls will plant a ‘Hoopsii’ Colorado Blue Spruce and dedicate a commemorative bench and plaque, along with cookie tasting and sales, old-fashioned Scout demonstrations, SWAPS, a raffle, face painting, tattoos, recycling crafts, a time capsule, scavenger hunt, creation of a Girl Scout wish tree, patch sales and fun Juliette Low stories. Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder and Ghida Neukirch, deputy village manager of Buffalo Grove will share remarks at 1 p.m., followed by a flag ceremony.
